| - At the meeting, it was decided to launch the forum for "Kalu River basin" to promote the consensus-building among the stakeholders aiming at the smooth implementation of flood risk management project adapting climate change in the Kalu River basin. An expected role of the forum is to become a "coordinator" among the stakeholders, such as residents in the river basin, the Disaster Management Center (DMC), the Department of Irrigation (DOI) and other agencies concerned.
The members of the forum are to be academic experts, representatives of residents, DMC, DOI, District Disaster Management Coordinating Unit, representative of relevant agencies, NGOs, clergy, etc.
The first Kalu River Basin Forum is scheduled in May/June 2010. |
The 1st Steering Committee Meeting was held in Colombo with the participation of the Secretary, Ministry of Disaster Management and Human Rights, and the Secretary, Ministry of Irrigation and Water Management, on 19 February 2010 for discussion of the Inception Report of the Study
