Functions

  • Conduct general purpose and specific soil surveys.
  • Determine all possible land use options for a given land and prepare land use plan for the area.
  • Producing soil maps, land use maps and potential land use maps in national, provincial, district, project and farm level.
  • Providing soil data for planning and designing irrigation projects.
  • Make recommendations of crops and other land use types for irrigation projects.
  • Providing water quality data of irrigation project and other water resources.
  • Make quantitative assessments of potential hazards such as erodibility, potential acidity, alkalinity and salinity.
  • Conduct chemical and physical analysis for soil and water.
  • Conduct research on soil properties and water quality.
