The area of Anuradhapura Irrigation Region fully consists of Anuradhapura Administrative District. Under the supervision of the Regional Irrigation Director, there are five Irrigation Engineer Divisions located to carry out the functions of the Irrigation Department. These divisions are namely Anuradhapura, Nachchaduwa, Rajanganaya, Padaviya, & Huruluwewa. Each of these divisions are manned by a Divisional Irrigation Engineer and technical staff under his supervision. These Irrigation Engineers Divisions are further divided into several Irrigation Units to manage operation and maintenance activities efficiently and effectively to the farming community.

The total Irrigable Area of this Irrigation Region is 102,198.09 ac and it consists of 100 Nos of Irrigation Schemes.
