This scope of this branch is twofold.

Objectives

• Establishing an integrated management system to increase socio - economic standards of farming community through participatory management approach by optimizing the use of one unit of water & one unit of land in irrigated agriculture.

Functions

• Implementing WAPHAULA program in major & medium irrigation schemes.
• Monitoring PMC, preparing guidelines for PMC activities and appointing Project Mangers for all WAPHAULA Schemes.
• Monitoring productivity improvements for paddy, increasing cropping intensity by crop diversification & third Crop cultivation.
• Coordinating services of relevant line agencies for credit, agricultural inputs, and technology, marketing & income generation programs.
• Training & capacity building of Project Managers & farmer community.
• Direction & coordination of Unit Office management.
• Management of Invasive Alien Species (IAS) in Irrigation schemes.
• Traditional Paddy Development programme and Model Farm Management. Organizing and Coordinating National Exhibitions and other Events related to the Irrigation Department.
