Objectives

The main objectives of GIS branch as follows.

• Create & update of national level irrigation related spatial data layers.
• Provide GIS inputs for activities of other branches & sub departments.
• Train & disseminate GIS knowledge with field level staff.
• Collaborate with other agencies on GIS activities representing Irrigation Department.

Functions

• Create, Update and Maintain spatial data repository
• Preparation of GIS maps and databases for existing irrigation schemes and for new projects
• Carrying out special GPS Surveys for irrigation planning works
• Carrying out field training on GIS applications related to irrigation subject for field staff
• Undertake GIS components of special project studies.
