The area of Batticoloa Irrigation Region fully consists of Batticoloa Administrative District. Under the supervision of the Regional Irrigation Director, there are two Irrigation Engineer Divisions located to carry out the functions of the Irrigation Department. These divisions are namely Nawakiri&Kaluwanchikudi. Each of these divisions are manned by a Divisional Irrigation Engineer and technical staff under his supervision. These Irrigation Engineers Divisions are further divided into several Irrigation Units to manage operation and maintenance activities efficiently and effectively to the farming community.

The total Irrigable Area of this Irrigation Region is 60,117 ac and it consists of 10 Nos of Irrigation Schemes.
