The area of Kurunegala Irrigation Region fully consists of Kurunegala Administrative District. Under the supervision of the Regional Irrigation Director, there are five Irrigation Engineer Divisions located to carry out the functions of the Irrigation Department. These divisions are namely Hiriyala, Katugampola, Wariyapola, Galgamuwa, & Nikaweratiya. Each of these divisions aremanned by a Divisional Irrigation Engineer and technical staff under his supervision. These Irrigation Engineers Divisions are further divided into several Irrigation Units to manage operation and maintenance activities efficiently and effectively to the farming community.

The total Irrigable Area of this Irrigation Regions 44,675 ac and it consists of 26 Nos of Irrigation Schemes.
